Sam Dubose was a Visible Victim of the Increasing Costs of Higher Education, While Victims in the Community are Largely Invisible

In becoming more and more unaffordable, higher education has become an increasingly pronounced appendage in the state security infrastructure that maintains class divisions and inequality; the violence to poor communities is often less direct than what we see here, pushing persons out of their homes in neighborhoods surrounding the campus for amenities expansions that cater to wealthy students, but here we clearly see the school military forces exercise devastating power in enforcing the physical and non-material boundaries of education and class.

Sam Dubose was a victim of the security infrastructure that creates, maintains and perpetuates class divisions. We must challenge the implementation of these apparatuses to make it clear that the initiatives of these systems of suppression have no value — only human life has value and Sam Dubose’s life had value. Black Lives Matter.
